Matt Cutts today published a blog post about “The decay and fall of guest blogging for SEO”, as title of the post clearly stats that it’s for those who are trying guest blogging for SEO by building low quality links. Matt has also said before that Guest Blogging should not be the only method to build links, it should be done moderately.
Matt further cleared that organic guest blogging for exposure, branding, outreach, and community is still great choice. He said all bloggers are not of low quality there are many, which are fantastic & high quality guest blogging with no need to worry.
Here are the some points which Matt explained by giving example of outreach email as well as his past videos and posts which talks about do-follow links within post as well as mass guest blogging.
- Matt said that bloggers need to select carefully the type of posts they want to publish on their blogs, posts should be published only if they are of high quality, and you personally know the person and authority of the author.
- Blog posts which have dofollow links within the body of the content are clearly manipulated and spam, few months before also matt said to have links within author bio only and that too on brand name, profile or website URL
- You should stop doing guest blogging, if this is the only method you are adopting of building back link profile, if you remember, few months back Matt said that guest blogging should not be the only method of link building and there should be diversification in back links. Google has got technology to detect the ratio of guest blog links from your links profile.
So basically with example of email, Matt warned such companies, sites as well as blog owners about spamming with low quality posts, low quality blogs to build back links in 2014. Matt advised his team also to look for such blog posts and blogs which adopt such methods.
Google has no problem with high quality multi-authored blogs, blogs which have authority, popularity and those sites which do guest blogging for branding, exposure and increase outreach with high quality contents by natural methods.
