Which Guest Blog Posts are Considered as Low Quality

Guest blog posting is on rise after Google penguin updates as it is been considered an organic method of getting links. The rise in guest posting activities is confirmed by Matt Cutt a Google search spam team head in his latest video.

Matt added that the quantity of low-quality guest blogging has been on the rise.

In the video Matt Cutts explained how they find the low quality/ spammy guest post and penalize or discount their values. According to him it is very easy to spot or easy to find bad guest posts. Following are considered as bad guest posts

I digged more into this and I am of the opinion that Author bio is main source for Google to find that site linked in Bio matches with the social profile of the Author. For example

Organic Bio with organic links

Mohnesh Kohli writes for various blogs covering a wide range of topics in web development, web hosting, search engine marketing and social media. Visit www.megrisoft.com

If you will make analysis of this bio, Mohnesh Kohli, Google+ Profile linked and then go to Google + profile about page and will find a site linked www.megrisoft.com. Bio is authenticated and there is no linking on keyword rich anchor text

Organic Author but unrelated link

Mohnesh Kohli writes for various blogs covering a wide range of topics in real estate, investment, Insurance, marketing and web. visit for more detail www.examplerealestate.com

Now in this bio Mohnesh kohli correctly linked but the site mentioned in bio does not match with his social media profile. It means is is paid blogging or pay per post. Google will consider such post as spammy, even when it may be On topic of the site/blog and not linked with keyword rich anchor text

However Matt Cutts still recommend quality guest posting by experts if done in moderation. Matt Cutts said:

Guest blogging is probably the sort of thing that you should be thinking about doing in moderation. It shouldn’t be a full-time job going around finding people that “Can I borrow your soapbox and climb up on it and talk for a few little bits and then also embed some links back to my blog?” If that’s all you’re doing, then that’s probably not the best way to build a reputation to your website.

It is clear too much guest blogging will look like a paid blog posting or paid links buying and will be discounted by Google.
